How your septic system works:
There are two major components to your septic system- a drainfield and a septic tank. Septic Tank- Waste water runs from the home or other facility out to the septic tank. Septic tanks are designed to hold wastewater near the top and let more dense solids sink to the bottom of the tank. The solids in a septic tank are decomposed to a degree by bacteria and made into sludge. Lighter substances including grease, paper or other materials form scum and float towards the top of the tank over the waste water. Baffles are installed at the outlet and inlet of a tank to prevent solids from entering the drain field.

Our service area includes but is not limited to the following...

Drainfield- Consists of a collection of trenches containing perforated pipes and permeable material, often in the form of gravel covered by a layer of soil. The drainfield is made to filter impurities from the wastewater that flows from a septic tank through a distribution box and system of pipes.

When should I have my septic system serviced?
On average, septic tanks need to be emptied every 1-2 years in order to maintain optimal functioning and avoid more costly repairs later. Delaying service can lead to solids and sludge escaping from the septic tank into the drainfield. When solids enter the drainfield waste water is not able to move through the soil as it should and will rise to the surface. A drainfield that is not properly working due to clogs or broken pipes will lead to backups or slow flow in the home drains. If you smell or see sewage around your septic tank or in your home's drains you should have your septic tank serviced immediately. Ignoring your septic system will not save you money in the long run. Proper design, installation, and maintenance of your septic system will help to maximize your system's life.
